Back To School New Laptop Setup

Two tasks will need to be completed to finalize the setup of your laptops:

• Login and activate Microsoft Office
• Login and activate Adobe Creative Cloud

Microsoft Office

Office will need to be activated on your laptop before you will be able to create/edit documents. Follow these steps to complete activation:

1. Open Microsoft Word - either by searching for Word using Spotlight or navigating to the Applications folder
2. When you are presented with a login window enter your MPA email address: [e-mail], for example
3. If you are prompted for an account type choose the Work/School option
4. Enter your MPA password (this can be found in the back to school folder that you received when picking up your laptop)
5. Check the box at the next prompt to to prevent frequent logins
6. If all goes well you should receive a confirmation screen that Office has now been activated

Email can be accessed online at https://outlook.office.com/mail/ or by setting up your account in Apple Mail or Microsoft Outlook. For Apple Mail select the account type of Exchange, enter your MPA email address and you will then be prompted for your password.

Adobe Creative Cloud

Adobe uses the Creative Cloud app to manage all Adobe installations. By default your laptop does not come with any Adobe software installed, you will use the Creative Cloud app to install/update any Adobe applications you would like to install.

1. Click on the infinity-looking symbol on the right end of your menu bar:
2. You will be prompted to sign in, enter your MPA email address: [e-mail], for example
3. The login window will refresh to the Office 365 login
   • refer to the steps above to sign in to Office 365
4. After you sign in to Creative Cloud it may need to update before proceeding

Once you are signed into Creative Cloud you can install any of the applications that you see in the available apps window, there are quite a few to choose from.

Wireless access at school

For wireless access at school you will need to connect to the MPA-Private network. Your login for wireless is your username - jdoe, for example. Your password is the same one you have already received. You will notice there are are other wireless networks available, including MPA-Public - do not use this network. The network is restricted and as a result you will not be able to print.

Additional Notes

When your laptop booted you may have noticed that there is an account named macadmin on your laptops. There is an admin account that we use in case your laptop needs to be serviced for either a software or hardware problem. Please do not delete this account. We do not remotely manage or monitor your laptops using this account, it is used only when you bring your laptop in for support.
